THE ARTHRITIS NUTRITIONAL

Apples one of the most all-around helpful food to take care of your general health.  They have both soluble and insoluble fiber, a combination that helps to reduce serum cholesterol.  The pectinin apples absorbs excess water in the intestinal tract , thus helps aiding bowel movement.

Bananas are high in vitamin B6 , potassium and iron.  They helps with weight loss as they are rich in fibers, low in fat, quite filling and feed the natural acidophilus bacteria in the intestine for proper digestion.

Carrots are not only high in vitamin A but they are also loaded with beta-carotene which helps fight inflammation and it has fat-soluble antioxidant along with other carotenoids which tend to lower C-reactive protein level.

Flaxseed and flaxseed oil are rich in alpha linolenic acid, a precursor to the form of Omega-3 called EPA, one of the the most potent anti-inflammatory.  Use flaxseed oil in salads or in fruit smoothies, but never cook with it, as it has a tendency to oxidize when heated.

Ginger is derived from the underground rhizome of a plant native to south asia, most versatile medicinal foods high on antioxidant.  It helps cough & colds , best natural anti-nausea agents , decreasing pain for arthritis and protect joints in the body with ginger’s anti-inflammatory properties.

Oranges not only are ripe with vitamin C but also contain the flavanone herperidin, which has lowered cholesterol and has strong anti-inflammatory properties.  But most of this phytonutrient is in the peel and inner white pith, so when you peel the orange, leave plenty of the soft white skin on.

Papayas is rich in carotenes, vitamin C , flavonoids , B vitamins, folate, pottasium, magnesium and fiber.  It also contains papain, a digestive enzyme used to treat sport injuries and allergies.

Sweet Potatoes have vitamin C & A , potent antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties.  They also have vitamin B6 to break down homocystein, a toxic amino acid that can directly damage blood vessel walls.

Tumeric , one of the component of tumeric is curcumin, a powerful anti -inflammatory  property that is said to be 50% as effective as cortisone.  in traditional chinesse medicine tumeric has been used to treat blood disorders and liver problems, and is known to serve as powerfulCOX-2 inhibitor, with none of  the side effects .

Water .. especially mineral water, is one of the most nutrious, arthritis friendly drink.  Dehydration can exacerbate the pain caused by arthritis.  When you dont drink enough water ( 60 to 80 ounces a day ) inflammation becomes worse.
