Pain is decribed as an unpleasant experience with feeling of discomfort. On this particular note, we will talk about Pain associated with actual or potential tissue damage.
Pain is the body message that telling us something somewhere is not right. Head, Neck, Shoulders or lower back pain are the most common in 90% of population. These are not diseases in themselves but are symptoms of a dysfunction in associated structures in our body.
Although Myoskeletal pain is not reserved for the elderly but in one way or the other, most people of old age suffer from pain due to lack of physical activities/exercise which resulting muscle weakness or stiffness and restricted joint movement. In younger people , pain mostly caused by either poor posture and bad body mechanics on a repetitive action or from earlier physical trauma related.
Acute Pain, is when we know exactly where it hurts, usually results from tissue damage such as broken bone or skin burn. Acute pain can also associated with muscle cramp, headaches, or neck injury. This type of pain often goes away as the cause removed or treated and heals.
Chronic Pain, is generally described as a long term and persistent discomfort. Pain that still lingers after an injury heals, or persistently come and go with a degenerative disease. Chronic pain may also be caused by the body’s response to acute pain.
In conclusion, despite its unpleasantness, pain has to be appreciated for it is a mechanism that allow us to avoid dangerous situation, help prevent further tissue damage and promotes healing process.
